Mox strategy
Emrakul, the Promised End is a powerful late-game finisher and control tool. Its biggest strength is that it can often be cast for much less than 13 mana by filling your graveyard with different card types, then it takes over an opponent’s next turn to force a devastating misplay.
Best uses:
- Ramp and midrange decks that naturally stock the graveyard
- Decks that can reliably reach multiple card types early
- Control or combo shells that want a single, game-ending threat
Key synergies:
- Fetch lands, cantrips, removal, artifacts, enchantments, and planeswalkers help reduce the cost
- Self-mill and delirium-style decks make it cheaper faster
- Effects that protect your turn until you cast it, since the cast trigger is what matters most
Gameplay mechanics:
- Cost reduction based on graveyard card types
- Cast trigger that mind-controls an opponent for their next turn
- Flying, trample, and protection from instants make it hard to answer with normal interaction
Practical tip:
Build around getting at least 4-6 card types into the graveyard quickly; that’s when Emrakul becomes realistic and can swing the game immediately.
