Mox strategy
Child of Alara is a powerful five-color reset button and a strong commander for control, prison, or big-mana decks that can rebuild faster than everyone else. Its biggest strength is converting any sacrifice or death into a full board wipe for all nonland permanents, which makes it excellent at clearing away tokens, engines, and developed boards while leaving lands intact.
It gets much better with sacrifice outlets like Ashnod’s Altar, Phyrexian Altar, High Market, or Viscera Seer, since you can trigger the wipe whenever you choose. It also pairs well with indestructible, land-heavy, or graveyard-recursive strategies that can recover faster after the reset, plus cards that protect your lands or generate value from permanents dying.
Key mechanics it supports are death-trigger control, sacrifice synergies, and asymmetrical board control. Best use case: as a commander in a deck built to repeatedly sacrifice it, rebuild quickly, and break parity after wiping the board.
