Mox strategy
Tainted Field is a budget Orzhov land that fixes either white or black once you already control a Swamp.
Strengths: Strong in two-color decks that consistently have Swamps, especially slower Commander or casual decks. It taps for colorless immediately, and becomes flexible dual-color fixing once online.
Best use cases: Best in black-white decks, especially if your mana base includes plenty of basic Swamps, dual lands with Swamp type, or lands that count as Swamps. It’s better in midrange/control than in aggressive decks that need untapped perfect fixing right away.
Synergies: Pairs well with Swamp duals, shock lands, typed duals, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, and any effects that give lands the Swamp type. Also works nicely in decks that want lots of basic land types or cheap budget fixing.
Key mechanics: Enters untapped and gives colorless immediately, but its colored activation is conditional. The Swamp requirement means it rewards careful mana base construction rather than standalone use.
Overall: Solid budget fixer for Orzhov decks, but only reliable when your deck is built to turn it on consistently.
