Mox strategy
Snake Cult Initiation is a niche finisher for infect/poison-style decks. Its main strength is that it turns any creature into a fast poison threat, especially evasive or hard-to-block bodies, and it can close games in 3 hits if the creature connects consistently.
Best use cases are on cheap flyers, unblockable creatures, or creatures with combat protection, since poisonous 3 rewards repeated damage over raw size. It’s strongest in commander or casual poison shells where you can repeatedly suit up one reliable attacker.
Key synergies include:
- Evasion and unblockability to ensure the poison triggers land
- Double strike or extra combat steps to speed up poison accumulation
- Protection, hexproof, or indestructibility to keep the enchanted creature alive
- Creature theft or token makers if you want to turn disposable bodies into win conditions
Main weakness: it is slow and vulnerable to removal, and a 4-mana aura that does nothing by itself can be clunky. It’s best as a support card, not a centerpiece, unless your deck is built specifically to exploit poison counters.
