Oracle text
Whenever a creature an opponent controls is dealt excess noncombat damage, amass Orcs X, where X is that excess damage. (Put X +1/+1 counters on an Army you control. It's also an Orc. If you don't control an Army, create a 0/0 black Orc Army creature token first.)
7R: This enchantment deals 7 damage to target creature.
Mox strategy
Fall of Cair Andros is a strong payoff for red decks that reliably deal large chunks of noncombat damage. Its main strength is converting burn, sweepers, and ping effects into board presence by amassing Orcs whenever you deal excess damage to an opposing creature.
Best in:
- Burn or spellslinger shells with efficient damage-based removal
- Dragon’s approach / big red control style decks
- Token or +1/+1 counter synergies that can scale a single Army into a threat
Strong synergies:
- Damage multipliers like Torbran, Thane of Red Fell or Solphim, Mayhem Dominus
- Repeatable damage sources such as pingers, fight spells, or red board wipes that leave excess damage
- Army / counter synergies that make the amass token much more threatening over time
Gameplay role:
- Rewards you for overkilling creatures, turning removal into tempo and pressure
- Late-game mana sink with 7R to pick off a creature, though that mode is expensive and mostly backup utility
- Best when your deck can consistently deal 2+ extra damage beyond toughness
Overall, it’s a solid niche value engine in red removal-heavy decks, especially if you can amplify damage and keep triggering amass.
