Amass Orcs 1. (Put a +1/+1 counter on an Army you control. It's also an Orc. If you don't control an Army, create a 0/0 black Orc Army creature token first.)
Mox strategy
Deceive the Messenger is a low-cost tempo trick that shines as a defensive blowout or a cheap way to soften a threat while building your board.
Primary strengths: It’s efficient at U, can blank small attackers, and the Amass Orcs 1 rider gives you long-term value by growing an Army or creating one if needed. Best in blue control or tempo decks that want to survive early pressure while progressing board presence.
Best synergies: Works well with cards that care about +1/+1 counters, Army tokens, or Orcs; also pairs nicely with proliferate, token doublers, and sacrifice/fodder strategies that like incidental bodies. Anything that protects or reuses an Army makes the Amass much better.
Key mechanics it enables/supports: Instant-speed combat manipulation, token production, and incremental board growth. It’s most useful when you can consistently turn a small tempo play into a persistent threat.
