Oracle text
At the beginning of combat on your turn, choose one that wasn't chosen during your last combat —
• Up to one target Soldier perpetually gets +1/+1 and gains flying.
• Choose a Soldier card in your hand. It perpetually gets +1/+1 and gains vigilance.
• Create a 1/1 colorless Soldier artifact creature token.
Mox strategy
By Elspeth's Command is a slow, repeat-value token/anthem engine for Soldier decks. Its main strength is that it keeps giving a combat-relevant effect every turn without costing more cards, making it good in go-wide white decks and tribal shells.
Best use cases:
- Soldier tribal or token decks that can consistently apply pressure
- Decks that want repeatable flying or vigilance on a key attacker
- Games that go long, where the steady token production matters
Strong synergies:
- Soldier lords and anthem effects that scale the 1/1 token into a real threat
- Cards that care about creatures entering the battlefield or going wide
- Proliferate/copy-style support isn’t needed, but any way to protect the enchantment increases its value
Key mechanics it supports:
- Incremental board building
- Combat tempo through evasion and vigilance
- Perpetual buffs, which are strongest when you can keep using the same Soldier cards across turns
Overall: solid in dedicated Soldier builds, but too slow for most aggressive decks and too narrow for generic white decks.
