Mox strategy
Alexi, Zephyr Mage is a strong repeatable tempo/control engine in slower blue decks. Its main strength is turning extra cards into scalable mass bounce, which can reset attackers, clear blockers, and buy time while you set up a win. The 3/3 body is fine, but the real value is the activated ability.
Best uses are in decks that can afford card discard and protect Alexi long enough to activate multiple times. It shines with reanimation, flashback, dredge, graveyard recursion, looting, and token-heavy strategies that can pitch spare cards. It’s especially good against creature decks and board states where bouncing several threats is as strong as removal.
Key synergies are with untap effects, cost reduction for abilities, and card-advantage engines that refill your hand after discarding two. It also pairs well with cards that care about bouncing or replaying creatures, and with permission spells to keep opponents from simply redeploying everything.
Gameplay-wise, Alexi supports soft-lock tempo plans, instant-speed interaction on your turn, and repeated board resets without destroying permanents. It’s best when you can survive the early game and convert hand resources into control over the board.
