Against All Odds

Against All Odds is a flexible value/rebuy spell for white decks that can either blink one of your own artifact or creature permanents or reanimate a small artifact or creature from your graveyard. Best use cases: saving a key creature from removal, retriggering ETB effects, resetting a permanent with counters or damage, or recurring a cheap combo piece or utility creature. It’s strongest in grindy decks that care about enters-the-battlefield triggers, death/leave-the-battlefield abuse, or low-mana-value threats. Good synergies: creatures with strong ETBs like value creatures, artifact creatures, token-producing artifacts, and cards that benefit from being blinked repeatedly. It also pairs well with sacrifice outlets and self-mill, since you can stock the graveyard and then buy back the best target. Key mechanics: blink-style protection, graveyard recursion, and flexible mode selection. The main limitation is mana cost and the MV 3 cap on the reanimation mode, so it’s usually a role-player rather than a staple.
