When Acererak the Archlich enters, if you haven't completed Tomb of Annihilation, return Acererak the Archlich to its owner's hand and venture into the dungeon.
Whenever Acererak the Archlich attacks, create a number of 2/2 black Zombie creature tokens equal to the number of opponents you have.
Mox strategy
A-Acererak the Archlich is a powerful dungeon engine and token-maker in Historic/Brawl, but it’s generally narrow because its best mode depends on dungeon progress and it’s not Commander-legal.
Strengths: repeated entry triggers let it self-bounce and keep venturing, which can chain value if you have a way to complete Tomb of Annihilation quickly. Its attack trigger can flood the board with 2/2 Zombies, making it strong in go-wide sacrifice or combat decks, especially in multiplayer where it scales with opponents.
Best synergies: cards that help complete dungeons fast, flicker/bounce effects to reuse the ETB, and sacrifice or token payoffs like Zulaport Cutthroat, Ashnod’s Altar, or anthem effects. It also pairs well with ways to give haste or protect itself so you can attack immediately after replaying it.
Key mechanics supported: venture into the dungeon, recursive self-bounce, and token swarming. Play it when you can reliably trigger it multiple times or when you want a sticky threat that turns into a board of Zombies.
